BJP leader Rakesh Pandit killed by terrorists in Kashmir, Tral was the chairman of the municipality

The Pandit community from Jammu and Kashmir has been forced to rise by terrorists and extremists years ago. Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits were also killed during this period. However, the handful of Pandits who remain in Kashmir are also targeted by terrorists.

One such Kashmiri Pandit and BJP leader Rakesh Pandit has been killed by militants in Kashmir's Tral on Wednesday, sparking outrage in the Pandit community. According to police, Rakesh Pandit went to his friend Mushtaq Butt's house in Tral area. Meanwhile, three terrorists fired at them from close range. Rakesh Pandit and his friend's daughter were injured in the firing. He has been shifted to hospital for treatment. Pandit Tral was also the chairman of the municipality.

He was given security and was staying at a safe hotel in Srinagar, police said. On Wednesday, they went to meet a friend without a security guard and were the victims of a terrorist attack. BJP Kashmir spokesperson Manzoor Butnu said that BJP workers had been targeted by terrorists before.

Meanwhile, his body was brought to his residence in Jammu today. Then his funeral took place. Hundreds of other people joined the family.
