Bihar: Mysterious blast at madrassa kills Maulana, probe handed over to NIA

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will now probe the blast at a madrassa in Bihar's Banka district.

The agency has taken over the complaint lodged at the local police station and started investigating whether any sleeper cell is involved in the matter. Abdul Mobin, a 33-year-old Maulana, was killed in the blast at the madrassa. She was a resident of Jharkhand. The agency has now extended its probe to Jharkhand. According to sources, the forensic investigation team has also found traces of explosives. As a result, the responsibility of investigation has now been handed over to the NIA.

The blast took place at a madrassa in Banka district on Tuesday morning. Following which the team of Bihar ATS also reached Banka. Police say the blast is believed to have been caused by gelatin. There were 10 people present at the madrassa when the blast occurred. The room in the madrassa where the blast took place has been closed for the past few days. The sound of the explosion was heard far away.

The blast occurred on the ground floor and the walls of the room where the blast took place collapsed. The windows of nearby houses were also shattered and cracks appeared in the walls of the madrassa. Local BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakore has alleged that the blast proved that terrorist activities were going on in the madrassa.
