Amul and Peta India have come face to face over the Vegan Milk product. Peta, an animal rights group, recently asked Amul, the country's largest dairy, to consider production of vegan milk products. Amul India then answered questions raised by Sub India.

Amul has now launched a front against the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Along with this, a letter has been written to the Modi government to put a ban on it. Amul vice-president Valamji Humble had urged Prime Minister Modi to ban NGOs and said he was trying to ruin people's livelihoods. He also said that the image of the Indian dairy sector was being tarnished due to petty moves.

Humble said the contribution of the dairy sector to India's GDP is very important but misinformation spread by opportunistic elements such as NGOs could adversely affect GDP. Such organizations are part of a conspiracy to make India's milk producers unemployed. Gujarat's milk producers urged Prime Minister Modi to take necessary action to ban such organizations.

Humble also dismissed rumors of cruelty to cattle and said the people of India keep dairy cattle as family members. He likened the demand for peta to an attempt to break up the Indian dairy industry as it could save the country from importing milk and milk products. He said the move was inspired by foreign companies.
