Amit Shah, JP Nadda Awan discusses Punjab BJP president's seat, assembly elections

New delhi date. 15 June 2021, Tuesday

With the Assembly elections coming up in Punjab next year, Rathi's political movement has already begun. Top BJP leaders also held a meeting in this regard on Tuesday. The meeting, which was held at the party headquarters, was attended by BJP national president JP Nadda, home minister Amit Shah, Punjab BJP president Ashwini Sharma, state in-charge Dushyant Gautam, national general secretary Tarun Chugh and several other leaders. The meeting lasted about three and a half hours.

After the meeting, Ashwini Sharma said it was a regular meeting. In which various issues have been discussed including the assembly elections to be held next year. It is noteworthy that the political equations for the BJP in Punjab have changed due to the Agriculture Act. The Akali Dal, a longtime ally of the BJP, has sided with the BJP on the issue of agricultural law. The Akali Dal has recently formed an alliance with Mayawati's party BSP.

The biggest opposition to agricultural law is in Punjab. Farmers have been protesting on Delhi's borders for more than six months. The BJP may be in trouble in Punjab due to farmers' resentment. The BJP is also well aware of this, as part of which it is already looking for a solution to this problem. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP fought the elections together with the Akali Dal and fielded its own candidates in 23 seats. Out of which BJP won only three seats.
