A sick woman trapped in traffic due to the President's convoy died



Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh police has apologized for the death of a woman in Kanpur on Friday night. The woman died due to traffic restrictions imposed on the arrival of President Ramnath Kovind. President Kovind is on a three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh. In the meantime, he will go to his hometown, which is in rural Kanpur. He reached Kanpur by train last night and will spend Monday and Tuesday in Lucknow.

The deceased was identified as Vandana Mishra, 30, president of the women's wing of the Kanpur chapter of the Indian Association of Industries. His family took him to hospital last night due to a serious illness.

The report said Mishra had recently come out of Kovid. Mishra was being rushed to a hospital as his condition was critical. At that time President Kovind reached Kanpur. Police stopped traffic to allow their convoy to leave. Mishra's family was coming this way.

This affected traffic and further delayed Mishra's treatment. Mishra was pronounced dead at the scene. On the matter, Kanpur police chief Asim Arun tweeted that he and Kanpur police were deeply saddened by the demise of Vandana Mishra. This is an event that is a big lesson for the future. We pledge that our road system will be such that citizens will be stopped for at least a short time and such incidents will not happen again.

Another tweet said President Kovind was distressed by the incident. The president called the police chief and the district magistrate to inquire about the incident, police said. He asked the officers to personally express their condolences to his family. A senior police officer has been asked to investigate. One sub-inspector and three constables have been suspended for the incident. Police officer Vandana Mishra also reached the ghat where the funeral was held.
