8 killed as gas cylinder explodes in UP

Gonda (UP): Eight people, including three children, were killed when a gas cylinder exploded in a two-storey house in Tikri village in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district.

Seven others who were seriously injured in Tuesday night's accident have been shifted to Lucknow for further treatment.

An LPG cylinder exploded at the home of Nurul Hasan at around 10 pm on Tuesday, knocking down a two-storey building. Eight people were killed in the crash, while seven others were seriously injured. The deceased have been identified as Nisar Ahmed (3), Rubina Bano (3), Shamshad (3), Sairunisha (3), Shahbaz (18), Nuri Saba (12), Meraj (11) and Mohammad Shoaib (2).

The police staff rushed to the spot as soon as they got information about the accident on the helpline, said Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra.

The forensic team is collecting samples from the scene. An inquiry into the accident has been ordered.
