4 MLAs in Bengal, two MPs in touch with Trinamool: Mukul Roy

Kolkata, Dt

Mukul Roy, who dealt a major blow to the BJP after the Assembly elections in West Bengal, returned home to the Trinamool Congress. Not only that, now they are preparing to deliver another big blow to the BJP. He claimed that 3 to 4 BJP MLAs could join the Trinamool Congress. Mukul Roy himself has said that he is in talks with several BJP MLAs. The statements of Mukul Roy and his son Shubhrangshu indicate that Roy is preparing to give another blow to the BJP through a phone conversation. On the other hand, the Home Ministry has also withdrawn the security of Mukul Roy after Shubhrangshu.

When asked about talking to BJP leaders, Mukul Roy said, "I am in touch with BJP leaders by phone." Roy's son Shubhrangshu also said that six BJP MLAs could join the Trinamool Congress. Returning to Trinamool from BJP, Shubhrangshu said that besides MLAs, two BJP MPs also wanted to come to Trinamool.

Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Legislative Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari arrived here on Monday to meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. Only 21 out of 9 BJP MLAs accompanied him to Raj Bhavan for this seat. Since then, there has been speculation that MLAs who did not attend the meeting may join the Trinamool Congress.

Mukul Roy, once the number two leader in the Trinamool Congress, was removed from the post of national general secretary of the party in February 2014. He joined the BJP in November 2014. Mukul Roy contested on a BJP ticket and won the Krishnanagar North seat. However, Mamata Banerjee herself then repatriated him to Trinamool in West Bengal. Mukullo Roy then said that in the current situation in Bengal, no one will be in the BJP. He called Mamata Banerjee the leader of the country.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has withdrawn the 'Z' category VIP security given to Mukul Roy. The Union Home Ministry on Thursday directed the CRPF to withdraw its personnel deployed for the safety of 9-year-old Roy. Mukul Roy was given Z category security before the Assembly elections while his son Shubhrangshu was given CISF security.

State police, on the other hand, are providing security to Mukul Roy and his son. After joining Trinamool, Mukul Roy wrote a letter to the Home Ministry asking it to withdraw its CRPF security. The Home Ministry has also withdrawn the CISF security of Mukul Roy's son.
