1.19 crore robbery from HDFC Bank in Bihar on a white day

Hajipur: The crime rate in Bihar has been steadily rising for the past few days. The latest incident took place in Hajipur in Vaishali district. Five criminals who came here on a white day bike have looted Rs 1.19 crore from HDFC Bank and fled.

The criminals broke into the bank premises at 11 a.m. shortly after the bank opened on Thursday morning and locked the bank door from the inside. He then held bank employees and a customer hostage and carried out the robbery.

The criminals also looted Rs 44,000 from the customer and fled. As soon as the incident was reported, senior officials rushed to the bank. Police are investigating CCTV footage in and around the bank. The robbery took place at a branch of HDFC Bank near the home of Union Home Minister Nityanand Rai.

From this one can estimate how much the courage of the criminals has increased. Hajipur Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Raghav Dayal said the incident took place in Jarua Bazar area in Ganga Bridge police station area.

According to SP Manish, a special team has been formed to investigate the incident. Earlier on May 19, Rs 7.45 lakh was looted at the NH-28 Srithat State Bank branch of Tajpur police station in Bihar's Samastipur district.
