Bihar has received 339 mm of rainfall so far this season: 139 per cent more than normal

Patna: A total of 11 people have been killed in lightning strikes in various parts of Bihar, the Disaster Management Department said in a statement.

According to the Disaster Management Department, three people were killed in West Champaran, three in East Champaran, two in Patna, two in Nalanda, one in Madhepura and one in Aurangabad. In addition, four people were seriously injured in East Champaran and two in Patna district due to lightning.

According to the meteorological department, the state has received 339 mm of rainfall since the onset of monsoon, which is 139 per cent more than normal. This has led to floods in four districts of West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj and Saran.

This has affected 80,000 people in 65 villages. However, no casualties were reported in the flood-hit areas. In Maharashtra's Palghar district, on the other hand, a 15-year-old boy died after being struck by lightning while climbing a tree to catch the mobile network.
