Why not door-to-door vaccination? The central government is protesting for these five reasons

New Delhi, May 20, 2021, Thursday

One of the suggestions being made to speed up vaccination against corona in the country is door-to-door vaccination.

The Bombay High Court yesterday also asked the Mumbai Corporation whether citizens over the age of 75 could go home and get vaccinated for the disabled. Even if the central government does not make such a provision after the court is ready to allow it, it does not even need the approval of the center.

Although the High Court's suggestion is useful to the people, it is not so simple in the opinion of the Central Government and only recently the Central Government opposed it.

First, if a patient has a problem after vaccination, it may be difficult to treat the patient in a door-to-door vaccination.

The second reason is that the patient has to be kept under supervision for 30 minutes after vaccination. It is not practically possible for the vaccination team to stay at someone's home for 30 minutes.

The third reason is that the efficiency of the vaccine can also be affected. Frequent opening and closing of the vaccine vial prevents the vaccine from reaching the required temperature and is likely to affect the ability of the vaccine.

The fourth reason is that according to the guideline, once the vaccine vial has to be opened, the vaccine in it has to be used within four hours. Thus the vaccine does not work if the amount of vaccine in one vial in four hours is not used. Thus the chance of wasting the vaccine dose increases.

Vaccination on a vaccination team door-to-door can increase the risk of coronary heart disease.
