The United States has blocked the UN Security Council from issuing a joint statement on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for the third time this week. The Israeli media published the report quoting diplomats involved in the issue. Norway, Tunisia and China issued a statement following an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Sunday, calling for a ceasefire but the United States did not allow it. However, the US embassy did not comment on the matter.

Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US ambassador to the United Nations, argued that the United States was working tirelessly to end the conflict through diplomatic channels. US envoy Heidi Omar arrived in Tel Aviv on Friday and is in talks with Israeli and Palestinian officials for a ceasefire.

China is also constantly targeting the United States in its efforts to defend Israel. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has criticized the United States for blocking the UNSC from issuing a joint statement twice. Instead of criticizing Israel's attacks, statements from the United States so far have urged both sides to exercise restraint.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki also criticized countries defending Israel. According to him, Israel is always given a chance to survive by persecuting the Palestinians. This is why Israel is killing Palestinians in their sleep. He also thanked China for convening the meeting. He says Israel is working on a plan to uproot Palestinians from Jerusalem and take their lives in Gaza.
