PM Modi convenes high-level meeting on Koro crisis, discusses how to tackle black fungus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to discuss the Koro crisis in the country. The meeting reviewed the oxygen supply and availability of medicines. It was also discussed that many people are complaining of mucorrhoea after recovering from corona.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi was informed that the government was continuously monitoring the supply of drugs for mucomycosis (black fungus) along with corona. The ministers present at the meeting also said that they are in constant touch with the manufacturers ranging from increasing production. Apart from that, the Prime Minister was also briefed on the raw materials and available production and stock of medicines.

The Prime Minister was also informed that all the necessary medicines were being supplied to the states. At the same time, it was said that the production of drugs like Ramdasivir has been steadily increasing. The Prime Minister said the pharma sector and the government should work together to ensure the availability of medicines.

The Prime Minister also took stock of the availability and supply of oxygen. He was informed that the oxygen supply has been increased 3 times this time as compared to the first wave. He was also briefed on the operations being carried out by the Air Force and Railways for oxygen supply. Apart from purchasing oxygen concentrators and oxygen cylinders, he was also briefed on the status of PSA oxygen plants being set up across the country.
