The quality of ventilators ordered under PM Care Funds is being questioned. A large number of ventilators made available in Punjab under PM Care Funds last year are not being utilized. This is being attributed to the poor quality of ventilators. These ventilators are said to shut down after a short period of work.

Of the 80 ventilators provided at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot, 71 ventilators are bad. These ventilators were provided by AgVa Healthcare under the PM Care Fund. According to doctors in medical colleges, the quality of these ventilators is poor and they are turned off within 1-2 hours of use.

According to anesthesiologists, the quality of these ventilators sent by the central government cannot be trusted because, when these machines are used, they suddenly stop working. The quality of this ventilator is very poor, said one doctor. They cannot risk the lives of patients because the machine shuts down.

In the midst of all this, Punjab Chief Secretary Vinnie Mahajan has given permission to hire engineers and technicians to repair the bad ventilator. The state government has also assured the medical college to provide 10 new ventilators immediately on priority basis.

It is learned that some of the 250 ventilators sent by the Indian government at a cost of Rs 25 crore last year are still in the health department stores. Some of them started using machines and started having problems. At the same time, there is a shortage of technicians operating ventilators in Punjab.
