Maharashtra: 13 Naxals killed in C-60 commando operation in Gadchiroli, search operation continues

A few days ago, a major attack was carried out by the Naxalites on the Bijpur-Sukma border in Chhattisgarh, in which 22 people were killed. Since then, there has been a continuous campaign against the Naxalites. Now in this series, the security forces have had a major breakthrough on Friday.

Police in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, have killed 13 Naxalites during a search operation and a search operation is still on. Gadchiroli Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sandeep Patil informed the media that at least 13 Naxalites had been killed in the encounter till this morning.

He further said that the police action took place at 3.30 am in the forest near Kotami in Etapalli. According to all media reports, the operation against the Naxalites is underway in Dhantad, which is run by a C-60 unit of the police.

Sandeep Patil said a large number of Naxalites had gathered in the forest for the meeting. Based on specific information, the police team and C-60 commandos launched a joint search operation. During this time, clashes broke out between the two sides. Police then killed 13 Naxalites in retaliation.

It may be mentioned that on March 5 this year, there was a clash between the Naxalites and the police in the Korparshi forest of Gadchiroli district. Five Naxalites were killed in a clash between a team of C-60 commandos and Naxalites.

A C-60 commando was killed in the encounter, which lasted about 12 hours. Several passengers were also injured during the encounter. Troops recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from the spot after the operation.
