The lockdown in Delhi has been extended for a week. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement during a press conference on Sunday. The Chief Minister said that the lockdown in Delhi, which was earlier scheduled to be completed on May 10, will now continue till the morning of May 17.

According to Arvind Kejriwal, this time the lockdown will be more drastic so that the pace of transition can be brought under control. Metro service in Delhi will also be shut down from Monday. Arvind Kejriwal said that the lockdown is having a good effect in Delhi. Since April 26, there has been a gradual decline in new cases. At the same time, the transition rate has come down from 35 per cent to 23 per cent in the last 2-3 days. He also said the lockdown was used to strengthen health infrastructure and resources.

The Chief Minister said that the biggest problem in Delhi was the lack of oxygen. Hospitals need many times more oxygen than they need on a normal day. Because now all the patients who are coming are in need of oxygen. Over the last few days, due to the order of the High Court and the Supreme Court and the cooperation of the Central Government, the oxygen situation in Delhi has improved a lot. Now there is no news that only 2 hours of oxygen is left in the hospitals or only half an hour of oxygen is left.
