Kerala polls: Rahul's magic did not work in Kerala too, BJP also ahead in only two seats

The counting of votes for the Kerala Assembly elections is underway. The counting of votes started at 8 am, with the first postal votes being counted. The election results for the 140-seat Kerala Assembly will determine the political future of 975 candidates, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, senior Congress leader Oman Chandy, Metroman E Sreedharan and former Union Minister K Alphonse.

In Kerala, the Left Democratic Front, led by the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), is leading in 75 of the state's 140 seats. The Congress-led opposition United Democratic Front is leading in 56 seats. Preliminary results indicate that the BJP-led NDA is leading in just two seats. One of them is Nemon, from where Metroman E Sridharan is in the fray on a BJP ticket. It may be mentioned that in the last assembly elections, the BJP got only this Nemon Sut in Kerala.

Apart from this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Health Minister KK Shelja, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy are running for their seats. According to the Election Commission's website, the CPI (M) is currently in 5 seats. The CPI is leading in 2 seats and the Congress in 5 seats.

633 large rooms have been set up in 144 polling stations in the state for counting of votes. Counting is being done by EVM inside 527 rooms, while pastel votes are being counted inside 106 rooms.
