In Aligarh, 28 people died due to poisoning, many in critical condition

The death toll in a massacre at Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh has risen to 28. Postmortems of most of the bodies were reported by late night. Apart from that many people were admitted to the district hospital and JN Medical, many of whom are in critical condition.

Several officials, including the district excise officer and the excise inspector, have been suspended for negligence in the case. Police have registered 3 cases and arrested 5 people, including accused Anil Chaudhary, in a liquor smuggling racket. The two main accused in the case are absconding for whom a reward of Rs 50,000 each has been announced.

Five people, including RLD leader Anil Chaudhary, a liquor dealer, have been arrested in the case. Apart from that, Rishi Sharma and Vipin Yadav, who are associated with the BJP, are absconding and a reward has been announced for them.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had taken action in the matter. He spoke to Aligarh officials and directed them to help the victims and also ordered the imposition of NSA on the accused. He also asked them to seize liquor from a government shop and confiscate the property of the convicts.
