Former Siwan MP Shahabuddin dies of corona while undergoing treatment in Delhi


- 39 cases of murder and kidnapping were registered against Shahabuddin

Former Bihar MP from Siwan district Mohammad Shahabuddin has died due to corona. Shahabuddin, a jailed former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP, breathed his last on May 1 at a hospital in Delhi. Shahabuddin, an inmate of Delhi's Tihar Jail, was admitted to the hospital on April 20 and was shifted to the ICU 2-3 days ago.

Shahabuddin and the acid scandal

In the year 2004, 3 sons of a man named Chanda Babu were abducted and two of them were killed by bathing with acid. One of the surviving youths managed to escape and Chanda Babu later lodged a complaint against Shahabuddin in which the surviving youth testified. In 2015, the young man was shot dead in public. The case was registered against Shahabuddin and his son.

Since Nitish Kumar's government came to power in 2005, Shahabuddin has been caught red-handed and arrested from Delhi. He was booked in 39 cases of murder and kidnapping out of which bail was granted in 38 cases and the 39th case was murder of Chanda Babu's sons.
