The Corona epidemic has taken a terrible turn in the southern states of the country. In Andhra Pradesh, the Eastern Command of the Navy has taken over all the oxygen plants in the state. Oxygen will also be audited in hospitals.

The day before the lockdown in Tamil Nadu, the oxygen and ICU beds at the Chennai hospital were full, putting the lives of new patients at risk and alerting the administration.

The state government said there are a total of 5,849 oxygenated beds in different hospitals for corona patients in Chennai. 4234 beds are without oxygen while 1735 beds have ICU facilities. The number of critically ill patients arriving at the hospital is increasing along with the daily increase in the number of cases of infection.

Because of this all the beds already reserved in the hospitals are coming full. However, realizing the seriousness of the situation, the patients who were feeling well were immediately discharged so that other serious patients could be admitted and treated.

The Navy's Eastern Naval Command team will also audit the oxygen, supplies and other facilities spent at the hospital. For this 4 teams have been formed which will handle the responsibility of 3 to 4 districts.

This team will also stop oxygen being wasted due to leakage. Following the audit, the team will submit a report with instructions to the Principal Secretary, Department of Health.
