Mehul Choksi, the PNB scam accused arrested from Dominica, has now knocked on the court door. His lawyer has filed a habeas corpus application in a local court. His lawyer Vijay Agarwal also confirmed the filing of the petition.

Prosecutors have filed a habeas corpus petition in a Dominican court so that Mehul Choksi can be produced in court and given the necessary legal help. The habeas corpus application is filed so that the arrested person can be produced before a court or a judge.

Mehul's lawyer also claimed in the application that there were marks of torture on his body. Prosecutors also allege that Mehul Choksi was forcibly removed from Antigua and Barbuda without his consent. "He (Mehul Choksi) was only allowed 2 minutes to meet with our lawyers in Dominica," said lawyer Vijay Agarwal. He said he had been forcibly taken from Jolly Harbor in Antigua to Dominica.

Can Choksi be brought directly to India from Dominica?

In response to this question, Vijay Agarwal said that Mehul Choksi was not an Indian citizen as soon as he got the citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda. By law they can only be brought to Antigua. Apart from that, the Supreme Court of Dominica has immediately banned Mehul Choksi from being sent to any other country. Only after a hearing on Friday will it be decided whether Mehul Choksi will be sent to another country outside Dominica.
