Black fungus is not contagious like corona, it causes disease, inappropriate to be identified by different colors

New Delhi, 24 May 2021 Monday

Black fungus does not spread from person to person like corona. It is not a communicable disease. People with type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of developing fungal infections. AIIMS director Randeep Guleria gave this information on Monday.

Aims director Randeep Guleria said cases of black fungus (Mucormycosis) were increasing rapidly. Therefore, it cannot be ignored. This has the advantage of starting early in the treatment of the infection. Sitting close to a person infected with black fungus does not spread to other people.

What are the symptoms of Mucormycosis?

Headache, swelling in one side of the eye, nasal congestion, numbness on one side of the face, numbness are some of the main symptoms of Mucormycosis. People who have diabetes or are taking steroids should get a medical checkup immediately if they have these symptoms.

People should avoid taking steroids without consulting a doctor. Mucormycosis affects people with a weakened immune system. It is found in the lungs, nose, digestive system.

Confusion is arising from different names

Gularia said people with coronary heart disease, who do not have diabetes and have not taken steroids, are less likely to have Mucormycosis, have multiple types of fungal infections, have Mucormycosis in the case of Covid, and differentiate the same fungus based on color. -No different naming needs to be avoided. Calling it by different color names can be confusing. The fungus currently under discussion is Mucormycosis.
