Bad math: 8.5 crore vaccines are being made every month, but 3.6 crore was allocated in the first three weeks of May

New Delhi, Monday 25 May 2021

Accounts of vaccines manufactured in the country have been submitted to the Supreme Court by the government. It is said that 85 million vaccine doses are prepared every month in the country. In the first three weeks of May, 3.6 crore vaccines have been given to the states for vaccination. If we add the figure for the whole month based on this, it will be around five crores. In such a scenario, the question is where are the remaining 3.5 crore vaccine doses going and why is there a shortage in the country ?.

Due to the lack of vaccines in the country, many states have stopped vaccinating people over the age of 18. But it is not clear why this shortage is happening. According to data from the government and vaccine manufacturers, 27 lakh doses are being prepared daily, but the countrymen are being vaccinated less. In the first three weeks of May, states received an average of 16.2 million doses, according to a newspaper report.
