An MP's railway station collapsed as the train passed at high speed

The Chandni railway station at Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh collapsed at a speed of 110 km per hour as the train passed by. Fortunately no one was under the building at the time it collapsed and no casualties were reported.

It is learned that the incident took place between Nepanagar and Asigadh. At 4:00 pm on Wednesday, the Pushpak Express crossed the Chandni railway station building in the jungle at a speed of 110 km per hour and collapsed due to unbearable tremors.

The accident shattered the windows of the building, the boards also collapsed and debris from the front of the building was scattered in the station premises. People working around the building at the time of the accident began to flee. Railway Board officials rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed about this. The accident also affected several evening train services.

Station Master Asharam Nagwanshi said on the phone that the Pawan Express train from Khandwa left at 3:30 pm and the Gohati Express from Burhanpur at the same time and the two crossed each other. Part of the building collapsed at about 3:55 p.m., while Pushpak passed away at 4:30 p.m.

Disrupted train services on the line have resumed, according to the ADRM. The incident caused train services to be disrupted for about 3 hours on Wednesday evening. An inquiry has also been ordered into the demolition of the building.
