Amid rising corona cases, the Odisha government has also announced a 14-day lockdown, effective May 5

A 14-day full lockdown has been declared by the state government to curb the corona virus in Odisha. The government has announced that the lockdown will take effect in the state from May 5. The order, issued by SC Mahapatra, chief secretary of Odisha, said life-saving services would be available on all days except weekends. The order said the lockdown would be enforced across the state from 5 a.m. on May 5 to May 19.

The official order said that people will be allowed to go from 6 am to 12 noon to buy essential items in an area up to 500 meters from their homes. On weekends, that is, on Saturdays and Sundays, people will be able to leave home only for health services. It has also been clarified that lockdown and weekend lockdown will not apply to election related people and programs.

Members of the Covid-19 task force have appealed to the central government to impose a nationwide lockdown in view of the growing spread of the Kora virus. The spread of Corona virus in the country is currently progressing at a rocket speed. The second wave of Corona virus is even more deadly than the first. The Corona virus is rapidly changing its form, albeit to a lesser extent. Which makes it difficult to control.
