13 Naxalites killed in clashes between police and Naxalites in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra

Thirteen Naxalites have been reported killed in an encounter between police and Naxalites in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, late Friday night. An encounter has taken place between the C-60 unit of Maharashtra Police and the Naxalites. Gadchiroli DIG Sandeep Patil has given this information.

Earlier it was reported that six bodies have been found, followed by news shortly after that 13 bodies of Naxalites have been found so far.


Several senior commanders are suspected to have been killed
Clashes broke out between security forces and Naxalites in Kotmi forest on Friday. Currently the firing has stopped and a search operation is underway. So far, the bodies of 13 Naxalites have been found. Police suspect that the slain Naxalites may have had several senior commanders.

Gadchiroli Gondia Range IG Sandeep Patil confirmed the operation against the Naxals and said a search operation was being conducted. Security forces fear that many Naxals may still be hiding in the Kotmi forest. Therefore, an alert search operation has been carried out.

The Naxals carried out the IED blast two years ago
At least 16 people, including 15 policemen, were killed in an IED blast by Naxals in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district in 2019. The Naxals had set fire to 27 vehicles of a road construction company before the blast. Among those killed in the blast were drivers. The blast took place near Lendhari Nalla in Kurkheda area of ​​Kurkheda area.
