The Corona virus is currently causing a terrible situation in the country. With this in mind, the Election Commission has taken some tough decisions regarding the West Bengal elections. The Election Commission has ordered that no political party can now rally or campaign after 7 pm. Apart from this, the election campaign should end 72 hours before the polls. Earlier this time limit was 48 hours.

The Election Commission said all candidates and political parties must abide by the Corona guideline. Strict action will be taken against any violation of the rules. It will be the responsibility of the organizers of the rally to provide sanitizers and masks to the people present at the rally. The same number of people will be allowed to gather at the same rally.

The Election Commission said star campaigners and party candidates should also wear masks themselves and encourage supporters to do the same. At the same time, he asked the supporters to take care of sanitizer and social distance. It may be mentioned that the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal, Arij Aftab, called an all-party meeting today. Earlier, the Kolkata High Court had struck down the Election Commission over the ongoing elections and rallies in Bengal. In which the court ordered the Election Commission to ensure compliance with the Coron Guideline during the campaign.
