Voting continues in 44 seats of 5 districts in Bengal, PM's appeal for record voting

Voting for the fourth phase of Assembly elections in West Bengal has started since early morning on Saturday. Voters from 44 assembly constituencies in 5 districts in the state are voting to elect their representative in the assembly. Security has been beefed up for 44 assembly seats in five districts. Central police as well as central forces have been deployed at all polling booths.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged voters, especially youth and women, to cast their votes in record numbers in the run-up to the fourth phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections. Voting was scheduled to begin at 7:00 am, which was met with great enthusiasm among the voters and people lined up outside the booths just before the polling time.

In Bengal, 373 candidates are in the fray from 44 seats in 5 districts. The future of the candidates in the fray is in the hands of more than one crore voters. The Singur constituency is the most talked about of the 44 assembly seats to be polled in the fourth phase. Mamata Banerjee staged a land agitation at Singur in Hooghly district and then came to power in Bengal.
