The Delhi government is committed to the welfare of migrant, daily and construction workers during the lockdown. The government has taken necessary steps to provide them with accommodation, food, clothing and medicines during the lockdown. The Delhi government had informed the High Court that a committee headed by the Home Secretary has been constituted to monitor all the arrangements.

The High Court had sought a report from the Delhi government on the appropriate steps to be taken for tourists, grandparents and construction workers during the lockdown. The government has taken several steps for the welfare of the workers, the report said. A committee has been constituted to look into all the arrangements and Home Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla has been made its chairman who will be the nodal officer of the state.

Special Officer of Delhi Police Rajesh Khurana will be the nodal officer from Delhi Police. Arrangements will be made for the workers to stay at work, eat and drink, medicine etc. and the finance department will arrange the funds.

In 2020, workers were given assistance of Rs. 5-5 thousand twice and from April 20, 2021, financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 will be given again. Apart from that the midday meal given to the schools will be used for the meals of the workers.
