The central government's panel said the country would have to provide oxygen to 6 lakh new patients every day

New Delhi, April 26, 2021

A panel headed by Dr VK Paul, a member of the central government's policy commission, has suggested to the government that oxygen supply should be arranged for 6 lakh patients daily in view of the corona infection.

Ten months ago today, Dr. Paul's panel warned the government's health department that the government needs to make arrangements to provide oxygen supply to 3 lakh patients a day.

The panel, headed by Dr. Paul, has recommended measures to increase oxygen supply under Plan B. It said that the supply of oxygen should be increased to the extent that it is sufficient for 6 lakh patients per day and the concerned authorities should be informed for this. Supply can be scheduled.

According to sources, when the first wave of corona was at its peak in September, a panel headed by Dr Paul said that the government needs to provide 1.6 lakh ICU beds and 3.6 lakh non-ICU beds in the country, keeping in view the daily influx of 3 lakh new patients. Even in the ICU bed 75 per cent of the bed should be equipped with oxygen supply facility.

Dr. Paul's panel's prediction has now come true and the country is facing more than 3 lakh new patients every day and on the other hand there is a lack of all other facilities starting from oxygen.
