The Supreme Court has rejected a petition filed against the importation of the Quran. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000. The petition was filed by Wasim Rizvi, former chairman of the Shia Waqf Board. According to him, students are misguided by these imports.

A bench headed by Justice RF Nariman heard the petition in the Supreme Court on Monday. During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner said that he knew all the facts of the SLP. The apex court then questioned how serious you are about your application, saying it is not an SLP but a writ.

Petitioner's counsel said that imports are taught in madrassas, students are misguided by it, only by teaching and explaining these imports is terrorism prepared internationally. The apex court then dismissed the petition as baseless and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.

Wasim Rizvi's logic

The petition was filed by Wasim Rizvi, former chairman of the Shia Waqf Board of Uttar Pradesh. He said 26 imports of the Quran were promoting terrorism and should be removed so that the name of the Muslim community was not associated with terrorist activities.

Wasim Rizvi sent a copy of the original question and application to 56 registered Islamic organizations and institutions across the country to clarify his position as part of precaution before applying.

According to Wasim Rizvi, in the entire Qur'an, Allah has spoken of brotherhood, love, openness, justice, equality, forgiveness, tolerance. Muslim youth are being misled by using these imports. It poses a threat to the unity and integrity of the country.

Vs. Rizvi's family

There was a lot of controversy over Wasim Rizvi's application. He was opposed by several Muslim organizations. Rizvi's own family was against him. Rizvi's mother and brother have severed all ties with him.
