Serum Institute slashes Covishield price, states will now get dose at Rs 300 instead of Rs 400

New delhi date. 28 April 2021, Wednesday

The third phase of tax vaccination is starting in the country. Prior to that, there has been controversy over the cost of the core vaccine. The Serum Institute, the company that made the cove shield, had raised questions about the price of the corona vaccine, as different prices were set for state governments and central governments. Now the price of corona vaccine has been reduced for state governments by the Serum Institute.

The government had earlier asked the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech to reduce the price of the vaccine. Later today, Adar Poonawala, CEO of Serum Institute, announced a Rs 100 reduction in the price of corona vaccine for state governments. He has given this information by tweeting. He said the states would be given a dose of the vaccine at Rs 300 instead of Rs 400.

While it is important to note here that the Serum Institute has reduced the price of vaccines only for state governments, there has been no reduction in the price for private hospitals. Private hospitals will get a dose of Rs 600.

Agdar Poonawala tweeted that the price of the vaccine to be given to the states by the Serum Institute of India would be reduced from Rs 400 to Rs 300 per dose and the decision would take effect immediately. Which will save thousands of crores of rupees to the states. More vaccinations could be done and countless lives could be saved.

The Serum Institute has decided to reduce prices by up to 25 per cent. Serum has reduced the price from Rs 400 to Rs 300. This price will be applied with immediate effect. The Covishield of the Serum Institute has been shown to be up to 70 percent effective but this can be as effective as 90 percent.
