Sectarian violence, internet shut down, curfew imposed at Bara Chhabda in Rajasthan

Sectarian violence erupted on Sunday in Rajasthan's Bara district. Dozens of vehicles and shops were set on fire after communal violence erupted after two youths were stabbed to death at Chhabda. To control the situation, the police shut down the internet service and imposed a curfew.

At the same time, the police resorted to tear gas to disperse the violent crowd. Armed with sticks and iron pipes, the youths of the two communities continued their violent protest till late evening on Sunday. He set it on fire to damage public property in addition to police and government vehicles. Additional troops were called in to help control the situation.

The two sides had a dispute over the stabbing incident on Saturday. Violence erupted after shops in Aliganj and Ajaj Nagar were asked to close. Officials shut down Internet service in the district until 4:00 p.m., April 13.
