Re-demand of isolation wards built in railway coaches increasing the transition to Corona

New Delhi, dated 13 April 2021, Tuesday

Amid rising cases of corona virus in the country, once again patients have to be treated in railway coaches.

Demand for isolation wards built in railway coaches last year has started to rise in some places by the railways when there are no beds in hospitals. According to an English newspaper report, in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, which borders Gujarat, the agency has demanded about 95 coaches and 1,500 beds.

There is a lockdown in the district till April 15. Meanwhile, MoU has also been signed with the Railways for this. As part of which 20 coaches will be used as Corona Hospital. Each coach can accommodate 16 patients. It can admit patients with less symptoms. The coach will also be provided with food and oxygen cylinders.

During the first wave of Corona last year, 5231 such coaches were manufactured at various places. However, a railway coach was not needed at that time. However, now that the number of patients is increasing in the new wave of Corona, this railway coach is likely to take over.
