Party threatened to kill after approval of archaeological survey at Kashi Vishwanath temple

Kashi, dated 10 April 2021, Saturday

Like Ayodhya, the controversy over the Gyanvapi Mosque in the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex is now raging.

Harihar Pandey, a temple party petitioner, has been threatened with death over the phone after the Civil Court allowed the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct the survey at the site. The assailant was identified as Yasin.

Harihar Pandey then lodged a complaint with the Varanasi Police Commissioner. Following which he has been given police protection. Police have started investigating who made the threat. "When I got home from the civil court on April 8, I got a call from an unknown number," Pandey said.

"Even if you win the case, you can't enter the temple with the Archaeological Survey," said Yasin on the phone. You and your comrades will be killed.

It may be mentioned that in 1991, a case was filed in the Varanasi court regarding the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Somnath Vyas and Ramrang Sharma, the other two people who filed the case, died within a few years. Now Harihar Pandey is the sole party.

The court's order to conduct the survey is important because the court proceedings in the Ram Janmabhoomi controversy began in the same way.
