One more BJP candidate attacked in Bengal, eight other BJP workers also injured

Another BJP candidate has been attacked in the run-up to the third phase of Assembly elections in West Bengal. The injured candidate has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

According to sources, Deepak Haldar, a BJP candidate from Diamond Harbor constituency, was returning from campaigning this morning when he was attacked by some TMC workers. He was injured and eight other BJP workers were also injured.

"I was returning from campaigning when I was surrounded by some people and TMC activists. They beat me up," Haldar alleged.

Meanwhile, BJP workers staged protests against the attack in the Harbor area. Deepak Haldar was earlier in the TMC but recently joined the BJP. He is now contesting from the BJP. Haldar alleged at the time that it was difficult for the people to stay in the TMC.

BJP leaders have been a constant target in the Bengal elections. Earlier, Shuvendu Adhikari's brother, who is contesting against Mamata Banerjee, as well as other BJP leaders have been attacked.
