In Tamil Nadu, the EVM was carried on a Scooty, the Election Commission clarified

Chennai, Ta. 7 April 2021, Wednesday

After West Bengal and Assam, there is now a controversy in Tamil Nadu over EVM rigging.

According to the details received, EVMs were being taken on a Scooty after voting for the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu was over. As a result, the DMK and the Congress have accused the government of violating election protocol. Two EVMs and a VVPAT were being taken by four people on a two-wheeler and Rs 1.12 lakh cash was also recovered from them.

State Chief Electoral Officer Satyavrat Sahu, meanwhile, said the Scooty riders were employees of the corporation and the EVM they were carrying was not to be used for voting. However these two employees have made a mistake and an investigation has been ordered.

A young man delivering food was seen carrying an EVM on a Scooty and the case came to light. DMK and Congress leaders rushed to the spot after receiving the information and alleged that there was going to be a scuffle with the EVM but people had seen it before. Due to which they could not tamper with the EVM.
