If not a single Hindu survives in Bangladesh after 25 years, claims human rights report

It is a fact that the Hindu community is not safe in neighboring countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh of India. The number of Hindus here is steadily declining due to the atrocities being perpetrated on Hindus in both the countries. Hindus are fleeing these two countries to save their lives.

Now, the Center for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights has claimed that if Hindus continued to flee in this manner, not a single Hindu would have survived in Bangladesh after 25 years. The organization has compiled a report on human rights in India's seven neighbors, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Tibet.

In Bangladesh, as in Pakistan, the situation of minorities has worsened. The report, named after Dhaka University professor Abdul Barkat, claims that 2.3 lakh people are leaving Bangladesh every year for four decades. If the same rate continues, no Hindu will be left here after 25 years.

Expressing concern over the human rights situation in Pakistan, the report said that along with Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in Pakistan are also facing challenges. Living for minorities in Pakistan is nothing less than fighting a war. Women are being abducted, raped and converted. The population of Hindu Sikhs in Pakistan at the time of independence was about 35 million. Today it is barely 50 to 60 lakhs.

There were seven lakh Hindus and Sikhs in Afghanistan in 1970. Today, barely 200 Hindu and Sikh families remain. China has also imposed significant sanctions in Tibet. In Malaysia, Hindus do not have the same rights as Muslims.

Even in Indonesia, minorities are now being targeted in the wake of increased religious fanaticism over the past few years.
