Following the violence in Bengal, the EC banned the entry of leaders in Cooch Behar for 72 hours

Four people were killed in firing in Cooch Behar during the fourth phase of polling in West Bengal on Saturday. Following the incident, the Election Commission has taken a tough stance and banned the entry of any leader and political party in Cooch Behar for the next 72 hours. It has also changed the timing of the next phase of the election campaign.

The Election Commission has banned leaders from entering the constituency for 72 hours, citing tensions over the killing of four people during the polls. The Election Commission has taken this decision keeping in view the fear of deteriorating law and order. Not only that, the next phase i.e. 72 hours before the fifth phase of voting has also been directed to stop the election campaign.

Mamata Banerjee will leave for Cooch Behar on Sunday

Following the Election Commission's order, all political leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, will be barred from entering Cooch Behar. But as the state's chief minister, Mamata Banerjee is all set to hold a press conference in Cooch Behar on Sunday. The Election Commission has taken a tough stance in addition to ordering re-polling after a shooting incident took place during polling in Sitalkuchi constituency of Cooch Behar district.
