Violent clashes erupted in several places in West Bengal during the fourth phase of polling on Saturday. A clash between BJP and Trinamool Congress workers took place at Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar in which several people were injured. The police overcame the whole situation with great diligence by baton charge. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a polling station in Booth No. 285. A young man who came to the polls was killed when gunfire erupted outside a polling booth.

In the midst of all this, 4 people were killed in Cooch Behar in the firing by the central forces, according to the Bengal Police. The Quick Response Team (QRT), which was patrolling the polling station at Sitalkuchi at 10:00 am on Saturday, was allegedly attacked by miscreants.

The rioters damaged the QRT vehicle so the security personnel had to fire several rounds in which 4 people lost their lives. The Election Commission had sought a report from DEO Cooch Behar on the incident. West Bengal ADG Jagmohan also said four deaths had been confirmed. CISF jawans opened fire in response to the villagers' attack.
