577 teachers on duty in panchayat elections in UP become corona's mouth - teachers union claims

Voting for the final phase of panchayat elections is underway in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. According to the State Teachers' Union, 577 basic teachers have died so far during the Corona elections. Earlier, a newspaper had reported the deaths of 135 polling officers during the panchayat elections on which the Allahabad High Court had taken cognizance.

The state teachers' union has handed over to the Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission a list of 577 teachers who have died after election duty. After handing over the list, the state teachers' union has demanded that the May 2 polls be postponed.

According to Uttar Pradesh Teachers Federation president Dinesh Chandra Sharma, in the name of panchayat elections, the state election commission has infected 577 basic teachers in 71 districts. Earlier, a circular was sent by the government to all DMs, SPs and district election officers.
