2,5,650,000 kg of ice melts every year: report claims

Washington, Ta. 29
A new report claims that 3 billion tons of ice are melted worldwide every year. A study of satellite images over the past 40 years has shown that the ice is melting at a rate of 21 percent per year. That was not the case 15 years ago. If this were the case, the world's water level would rise.
A report published in the science magazine Nature claims that 4,6,250,000 kg of ice melts every year. According to scientists, every year since 2015, 3 billion tons of ice has melted out of the world's 250,000 icy mountains. An average of 3 billion tonnes of ice melted more between 2014 and 2015 compared to 2000 to 2009.
According to Romain Hugonet, a glacier scientist at the University of France, the world's ice, if any, has melted the most in the United States and Canada. The Columbia Glacier in Alaska melts about 115 feet per year. The rate of ice melting has increased in the last 30 years. The ice is melting twice as fast.
Scientists studied data from the last 30 years. Satellite images from the year 2000 and satellite images from the year 2020 were compared. Tibetan glaciers, which have been safe for years, are also melting rapidly, the report said.
According to Michael Jeppe, director of the World Glacier Monitoring Service, the ice is so large that if it suddenly melts in a single year, Switzerland will be submerged in 4 feet of water. Global warming is the most important factor behind melting ice.
