Will the railways also be privatized? Railway Minister Piyush Goyal gave this answer

New delhi date. 16. Wednesday, March, 2021

The government has been repeatedly accused by the opposition of privatizing the railways.

However, in the Lok Sabha today, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal replied that even though the country's roads are government property, no one has said that only government vehicles should run on them. We are being accused of privatizing the railways but if we talk about roads, only government and private vehicles are driving the economy.

"Privatization in railways should be welcomed. It will improve facilities," Goyal said. However, there is no question of handing over the railways to the private sector. Railways are and will remain government property, but no one should mind if there is private investment in them.

He said that modern facilities like waiting room, escalator are needed at the railway station today and it will require investment. Currently, 50 railway stations in the country are being modernized. The new 44 Vande Bharat train will be launched soon.
