China's parliament approves 14th five-year plan to build dam on Brahmaputra in Tibet, approves 14th five-year plan on multi-billion dollar project India has expressed concern.

The National People's Congress (NPC) on Thursday, on the last day of its six-day session, approved the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development.

The NPC has more than 2,000 members, most of them from the Communist Party. The session was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qing and other prominent leaders.

The 14th Five-Year Plan includes the construction of a dam on the lower reaches of the Brahmaputra River, in which India and Bangladesh have expressed concern. China has said such concerns will be allayed.

India has consistently conveyed its concerns to Chinese officials, urging them to ensure that any of its activities do not harm its interests.
