Hefzat-e-Islam supporters attacked a Hindu village in Bangladesh. A Hindu village in Shalla Upjila of Sunamganj was attacked by a mob of thousands on Wednesday morning. In fact, a Hindu man had criticized Mufti Mamunul Haq, the joint secretary general of Hefzat-e-Islam, Mawla, for opposing the Bangabandhu statue through a Facebook post.

According to a report, Amir Allama Junaid Babungari of Hefzat-e-Islam, Mufti Mamunul Haq of Joint Secretary General Mawla and several other central leaders opposed the statue of Bangabandhu during a program on Monday. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the President of Bangladesh.

Many radical Islamic groups are refusing to accept Bangabandhu Sheikh, the father of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as president. Hefzat-e-Islam opposed the idol of Bandhbandhu and a Hindu questioned the protest and his village was attacked. The attack forced many locals to flee their homes to save their lives and 70-80 houses were reportedly vandalized.
