Vaccinations are being conducted on a war footing across the country as part of the fight against the corona virus. In the midst of all this the Central Government has pointed out the importance to the Governments of all the States and Union Territories. The central government has asked to increase the gap between the first and second doses of the covshield vaccine.

The central government said an interval of 6 to 8 weeks should be maintained between the first and second doses of the covyshield vaccine. Earlier, the second dose was given 4 to 6 weeks after the first dose of Covishield. Which period has now been extended. The gap of one month has been reduced to two months.

The central government said the decision was taken following a report by NTAGI and the Vaccination Expert Group. So the central government has directed all the states to implement it. The report claims that if there is an interval of 6 to 8 weeks between the two doses of Covishield vaccine, it will be more beneficial.

This decision on the time between the two doses is currently only for the Covishield tax vaccine, not for other Corona vaccines. Covishield vaccine is manufactured by the Serum Institute, Pune. The vaccine has been developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca.
