The people of the country are not vaccinated against corona and the government is donating it: Delhi High Court

New Delhi, 4 March 2021 Thursday

The Delhi High Court, while hearing an application today, directed the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech to disclose their manufacturing capacity in the covshield and covacin vaccine, with the court sternly commenting on the export of covid vaccine.

The court said the Covid-19 vaccine is being donated, being sold to other countries, its own people are not being vaccinated, a spirit of urgency is expected.

The High Court has now asked the Center for its rationale for strict control over the category of individuals for COVID-19 vaccination. Not only that, the Delhi High Court also asked the Delhi government to inspect medical centers in court premises and show whether there is a possibility of setting up COVID-19 vaccination centers. .

A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said that both Serum and Bharat Biotech have the capacity to supply a large number of vaccines, but it does not appear to be taking full advantage of them.

The bench said we are not using it to the fullest, we are either donating it, or selling it, and not vaccinating our own people, there should be a sense of responsibility and urgency among those responsible in this matter.

The High Court was hearing an application by the Delhi Bar Council seeking to classify all front line workers involved in the judicial process, including judges, court staff and lawyers.
