Sri Lanka has threatened Pakistan with a burqa

Islamabad, Ta. 16. Tuesday, March, 2021

Pakistan is outraged after Sri Lanka put on a burqa. The decision has been opposed by the High Commission of Pakistan.

"The decision of the Sri Lankan government will hurt the feelings of Muslims living in Sri Lanka and around the world," the High Commission said in a statement.

According to the Pakistan High Commission, Sri Lanka is already in financial trouble because of the Corona, but now it will face more trouble in the international arena because of the burqa ban. Such a separatist move in the name of security will raise questions about the human rights of minorities in Sri Lanka.

Three days ago, Sri Lanka announced its decision, which was the first international response to Pakistan.

Sri Lanka has taken this decision at a time when Sri Lanka's human rights record is to be discussed at the UN Human Rights Council next week and Pakistan has indirectly threatened Sri Lanka in this regard.

The resolution to be tabled at the conference against Sri Lanka is based on the 2021 Human Rights Report. The report said that Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka have been marginalized and are being discriminated against at all levels, increasing the risk of violence in Sri Lanka.
