In fact, the petition was filed in protest of the statement made in the Article 370 case of Farooq Abdullah.

The petition sought registration of a treason case against Farooq Abdullah in view of his statement. He also demanded the cancellation of his parliamentary membership. The Supreme Court has rejected a petition seeking a treason case against Farooq Abdullah. Petitioner Rajat Sharma was also fined Rs 50,000.

According to the petitioner's allegation, Farooq Abdullah had sought help from China to abolish Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The allegations were denied by the National Conference.
