Questions are being raised against the new history curriculum drafted by the University Grants Commission (UGC). A new syllabus for graduation is being prepared by the commission. A draft was prepared for this and a response was sought from the people on the website by February 28. But many have questioned the draft prepared by the commission. According to people, the commission is trying to deification of the curriculum.

According to experts, this is the first time that the director of higher education is trying to prepare a complete history curriculum instead of issuing general guidelines. Notably, only 20 to 30 per cent of the curriculum prepared by UGC will be changed by any university. According to the new draft syllabus, 'Idea of India' will now be taught in the first paper of History (Hons) at Delhi University.

According to allegations leveled by students and teachers, the new curriculum seeks to downplay the importance of Muslim rule and adds myths to the Vedic period, associated with Hindu scriptures. Religious literature like Vedas, Upanishads have been given a place in the syllabus.

The third paper of the draft syllabus shows the Indus-Saraswati civilization in ancient history. The reason for his downfall has been mentioned. It may be mentioned that the river Saraswati is mentioned in the Vedas but its definition has been controversial in history.

The 12th paper titled 'Cultural Heritage of India' covers topics like 'Tradition of Cultural Heritage associated with Ramayana and Mahabharata'. According to the students, the word "aggressive" has been used only in the new syllabus for Muslim rulers. The East India Company was also not considered aggressive.
