Preparing to send back Rohingyas living in Jammu and Kashmir illegally

Preparations are underway to repatriate about 10,000 Rohingyas living illegally in Jammu and Kashmir to Myanmar. Details of Rohingyas living in Jammu and Kashmir are being collected on the instructions of the Home Ministry and verification is being carried out in all the districts. All Rohingyas living illegally will be relocated from different places or kept in detention centers. Besides, an exercise to set up a detention center in the region has also been started.

According to a government report, there are 6,523 Rohingyas in the region, of which 6,461 live in Jammu and 62 in Kashmir. They are also living in Ladakh by building temporary houses. 13,600 foreign nationals, including Rohingya and Bangladeshis, are believed to be living there.

Illegal documents were also found

State subjects, water icards, ration cards and Aadhaar cards have also been recovered from Rohingyas living in Jammu and Kashmir. Many Rohingyas even pay their electricity bills. The administration became vigilant in 2017 after receiving a state subject, Aadhaar card, from a Rohingya. The names of 7 members of that family were also registered in the ration card. Also, a family member had a driver's license.

Several criminal cases have also been registered against Rohingyas. He is also suspected of having links with Pakistan's ISI, the terrorist organization IS and separatist groups.

Population around army camps

The area around the army camp is also populated by Rohingyas. Parliament has decided to relocate the Rohingya. In principle, the government has decided to send them back. However necessary action is being taken keeping in view the practical difficulties.
